As one of Scotland's leading Children's Charities Aberlour Child Care Trust
is planning a Charity Fundraising expedition to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Named Kilts2Kilimanjaro you have the chance to be part of a
uniquely Scottish event.
Wear your clan tartan and take a five day trek to the summit and
two days to descend
(well it is downhill) – and yes Kilts Are Compulsory!
Think of it – a thirteen day adventure – a band of Scots, be-kilted and
decked with
Aberlour t-shirts walking around Marangu, Kikelewa, Mawenzi, Kibo, Horombo and
Zanzibar. What a sight!
After all the trekking you’ll fly to Zanzibar for a three day “recovery” before returning t
o the UK, proud of what the Kilted crew have achieved personally and for the children
of Scotland.
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa at 19,344 ft and on a clear day it can be
seen from the Tsavo plains more than 100 miles away. It is an extinct volcano and its
summit is distinguished by a prominent crater. Although it is located just three degrees
south of the Equator, its summit is currently permanently covered with snow and ice.
Of the various routes which ascend the mountain's flanks, the Rongai route offers the
best combination of gradual ascent, beautiful scenery and quiet paths.

UPDATE SEPT 07
We are holding an information evening for anyone interested in taking part on the trek next year at 7pm on Thursday 4th Oct 2007 at Aberlour's Head Office in Stirling.
