SPAIN
Bairdstravel has had a few adventures to the wonderful country of Spain.
Family holidays on the Costa del sol and a couple of holidays in the island of Majorca. Weekend breaks in Barcelona and Madrid were cool too. Spain is famous for it`s night life and great love for football.
Bairdstravel has visited both Real Madrid and Barcelona`s grounds. Barcelona and Real Madrid are the most successful Spanish clubs, in both the national league and continental competitions. They have won a combined 12 European Cups/Champions League titles and were runners-up 3 times each. Real Madrid is the most successful in Europe, having won it a record 9 times and the UEFA Cup twice. In La Liga's 80-year history (sans the 3 seasons that the league was suspended due to the civil war), Barça and Real Madrid have won 50 titles between them. Over the years, Spanish clubs have won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 7 times and UEFA Cup 5 times.

Spain is a country located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal.
Spanish territory also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast, and two autonomous cities in North Africa, Ceuta and Melilla, that border Morocco. With an area of 504,030 km², Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe and the European Union after France

FLYING HAGGIS BAR ARENAL JUST ALONG FROM C`AN PASTILLA
Message sent from fellow traveller
Ah, the Flying Haggis! Took a flight only to Majorca in 1983 with a rucksack and a tent. Intended camping and touring. First day in Majorca discovered the Flying Haggis, met in with a crowd who went there every year in June. Was persuaded to abandon the camping lark and booked into the Molinos Playa Hotel along the road for £4 per night. Cant remember much about the fortnight! Went back on a "pilgrimage" about 5 years ago and it was closed and all boarded up. Moral of story - never go back, you;ll only be disappointed. Had a great time though.
C'an Pastilla, an attractive little Majorca resort is situated down the east side of the Bay of Palma. There's definitely a bit more of a family holiday feel to the East coast of the Bay of Palma, although nightlife, superb sandy beaches, an array of watersports
One of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean, Mallorca has the advantage of a hot summer sun whilst still often being blessed with refreshing sea breezes. In the winter the weather is mild, although night times can get quite chilly.
There is something for everyone here in Mallorca, no matter what the season. Away from the countless restaurants and bars a lot of the island is still untouched by tourism, so if you want to venture off the beaten track, you can get a taste of how the Mallorquine locals spend their time
When in Majorca many years aga Bairdstravel took in the the Real Mallorca tournament. Featuring Real Madrid and Racing white.

FUENGIROLA
We stayed at the Torreblanca Hotel is located within metres of the sea and the nearest beautiful warm sandy beach in Fuengirola. The centre and its countless shops and entertainment venues are within walking distance and the impressive marina is also just paces from the hotel. In the evenings, guests can dine in the a la carte restaurant, or have a drink in the cosy bar. While the seasonal entertainment programme for adults means that guests may never have to leave the hotel. All of the rooms at the Torreblanca Hotel are decorated in a modern style.
Fuengirola lies just 20km south west of Malaga airport half way between Malaga city and Marbella. It is the third major tourist development on this section of Spain's Costa del Sol along with Torremolinos and Benalmadena Costa. This huge resort covers some 10km of coastline with intensive developments of hotels and apartments many of them high rise forming the typical concrete jungle resort which attracts mainly British tourists. Although catering for all age groups it is probably most popular with families and middle aged couples than with the younger crowd.

WHEN IN SPAIN
Take advantage of your hotel safe. Don't take money or valuables to the beach and always keep an eye on your property - others might be doing so for the wrong reason!
When walking along the pavement, ladies carry your handbag on the inside (away from the traffic).
Don't buy from the carnation sellers - in fact give them a wide berth. On a similar note - don't be tempted to play the "Three Shell Game" - you will only lose!
If travelling on the public bus to Palma or visiting one of the popular tourist markets, only take sufficient money for the occasion - leave all other valuables in the hotel safe.
In the event of an emergency - including robbery - dial 122. The operators speak English.
